ALL ABOUT ME

Sveiki, mano vardas yra Anna Vinski, this just means Hi my name is Anna Vinski in Lithuanian. I am a 37 year old professor from Latvia, with a husband and two kids. In Latvia i was teaching mathematics at the university. I wasn't making a good amount of money, my husband and I were making just enough to get by. I felt bad because we weren't able to support our family the way we wanted to. We knew that over in America, we could get higher paying jobs, and there were also many well-educated and highly trained doctors that could do surgery on my husbands knee. We thought that we had better opportunities here in American than in Latvia. So, we came over to America and now we reside in Los Angeles, California. We've been here for a while now, my kids are adjusting well but me not so much. Back home in Latvia we were well known and knew a lot of people, here we just feel like we are nobody. I tried to get a job at the university here, but i didn't because they said my English was bad. Instead i am working as a playground aide at my daughters school. The kids help me with my English, but i also take classes at night. There are other families from Latvia here in California. A lot of people left Latvia to come to places like America, Germany, and Israel because like me they weren't able to support their families with the jobs they had. I had no idea coming to America was going to be this way all because i am an immigrant.

I want to know what you would do?

Would you leave your country where you were most comfortable and were respected but had a job that didn't pay much to go to a country that you knew nothing about, knew no one, but had better paying jobs? Think about it and leave a comment on what you would do
